Although tickets are selling fast for Rennie Grove’s ever popular A Question of Sport charity dinner at Sopwell House Hotel, there are still three tables left and if you book your seat before January 26 you can take advantage of an early bird ticket price.

A Question of Sport has become one of the major events of the year on the Rennie Grove Hospice Care fundraising and social calendar. It offers an opportunity to get together with friends or colleagues and take part in the glamorous evening of eating, auctioneering and quizzing. Included in the ticket price is a drinks reception, three course dinner with wine and a fully interactive sports quiz hosted by Sky Sports Premier League reporter Geoff Shreeves.

Last year the event raised a whopping £45,000 for Rennie Grove Hospice Care. This is enough to cover the costs of a Hertfordshire Hospice at Home nurse to care for local patients as well as contributing to the running costs of the charity’s Day Services based at Grove House in St Albans. This incredible sum was thanks to everyone who supported the VIP evening by donating, bidding, buying raffle tickets and, of course, pitting their wits against each other in the hotly contested sports quiz.

A Question of Sport charity dinner 2018 takes place on Thursday March 8 at Sopwell House Hotel, Cottonmill Lane, St Albans. Early bird tickets are £90 per person or £900 for a table of 10. Whole table bookings are preferred, but smaller groups are welcome and will be placed in a team.

Rennie Grove community fundraising manager Rosalind Lee said: “A Question of Sport is one of the highlights on our social calendar and we’re really looking forward to a night of fun and fundraising with the local business community. We are looking to exceed what we raised in 2017 as this will make a huge contribution towards keeping our nurses out there in the community caring for adults and children who have life-limiting illnesses.

“We have some great auction prizes available to win on the night. They include rugby tickets to see England V New Zealand; a party package that includes a marquee, food, beer and a band; a family fun package with a holiday, games and festival tickets and a chance to play golf at the exclusive Wentworth course. One lucky person will win dinner, bed and breakfast at the luxurious Grove Hotel near Watford and our raffle has 100 prizes that include hampers, beer coolers, restaurant vouchers, festival tickets and more,” added Rosalind.

Rennie Grove would like to thank event sponsors Aitchison Rafferty, Close Brothers Asset Management and Orion Financial Management. There are still some corporate sponsorship opportunities available; for more information on these please email corporate@renniegrove.org or call 01707 731016.
