Traffic was stopped this morning on the M25 near St Albans after “a shedload of timber” was strewn across the carriageway.
Highways England temporarily closed all three lanes as the mess was cleared between Junction 22 for St Albans and 21A for the M1 at around 7.30am.
The incident caused delays to mount on the anticlockwise carriageway while emergency services dealt with the scene.
All lanes have now reopened and Highways England said delays were expected to ease.
