A YOUNG woman was sexually assaulted after she left a pub alone one night last week.
The 18-year-old victim had left the Blackberry Jack pub in Jersey Farm at between 11.15pm and 11.40pm on Wednesday (September 16) and walked along a nearby pathway leading to the park behind Harness Way.
As the woman, who is from St Albans, reached the entrance of the park she was approached from behind by a man and sexually assaulted. She eventually managed to break free before running away.
Police are investigating the incident and are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
The man is thought to be in his 40s with dark facial hair and is more than 5ft 4ins tall. He was described as wearing a dark jacket and a dark woolly hat with a peak, which was pulled over his eyes.
Anyone who can help the police with their enquiries should call investigating officer DC Paul Gillick on 0845 3300222 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
