Commuters have endured severe delays after a brand new train broke down at St Albans station this morning (Tuesday).

The 7.34am train to Brighton is still currently at the station, but has been moved onto the sidetracks where engineers continue to work on it.

The 700 train is one of the new trains brought in by Govia and has only been on the tracks a short while.

A Govia spokesperson said they were unsure as to how many trips the train had made previously.

She added: “All lines have now reopened, however residual delays will continue.”
