ST ALBANS: A second cycle path in Verulamium Park opened in time for Christmas.
The route runs between Westminster Lodge leisure centre and St Michael’s and includes a new pedestrian path, speed restrictions and a new entrance to the children’s playground.
Although already open, the path will receive its final touches when the weather improves.
St Albans council’s portfolio holder for environment, Cllr Daniel Chichester-Miles, said: “I am delighted to see the Verulamium Park cycle route between Westminster Lodge and St Michael’s open in time for people to enjoy over the holiday season.”
He added that the final touches to be made in the spring would make the route match the other Verulamium Park route, which runs from King Harry Lane to the Fighting Cocks pub and opened in October.
The cycle path has been funded out of reserves set aside for the purpose by the council over recent years, and so far has cost £15,000.
