A half marathon contestant is hoping to track down the knight in shining armour who rescued her after she collapsed 100m from the finish line.

After Abigail Giles, 34, from St Albans, succumbed to the overwhelming heat and fainted, a mystery man known only as Guy scooped her up and helped her regain her strength so she could carry on. After a 20 minute rest and water to cool her down, she was helped to the finish line by her sister and running partners to applause from the crowd.

Abigail, who finally crossed the line unaided at a time of 2 hours, 20 minutes and 33 seconds, said: “I think he was a spectator in the park with his family.

“I just want to find him and buy him a pint to say thank you because he was amazing and deserves a medal!”

She also thanked the St John Ambulance team who were on hand to look after her when she finished, and her husband Andrew for taking care of her afterwards.

If you know Guy, email hertsad@archant.co.uk or call 01727 863209.
