Over 1,000 parents, Scouts and volunteer leaders attended a parade through St Albans city centre to celebrate St George’s Day.
Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers marched down St Peter’s Street to the cathedral to renew their promises to the movement.
St Albans District Scouts commissioner Annette Payne said: “The renewal of promises is a very important annual event that we do. In St Albans, it is the major event where we connect with people who are not members of Scouting, so we involve the community and businesses.
“We try and get people involved to celebrate Scouting in St Albans and all we do for the community.”
Scouts from Redbourn, Markyate, and all over the district were present for the parade, which took place at 2pm, starting outside St Albans district council offices.
Throngs of people assembled on the orchard outside the cathedral to watch the ceremony in temperatures well above 20C.
