HARPENDEN Scout groups are to set up camp together by sharing a proposed new headquarters building.
Plans have been submitted to St Albans District Council for the new building which will be shared by the 10th Harpenden Scouts, Harpenden Explorer Scouts and Harpenden District's Gang Show.
The existing huts on Crabtree Fields used by the three Scout groups have serious structural problems and need replacing.
The area covered by the new HQ will be almost 50 per cent larger than that of the three huts it replaces because of the growing demand for Scouting in Harpenden.
It wil measure approximately 40 metres long by 13 metres wide and will also serve as a storeroom and have better disabled access.
