As part of their involvement in the local community, 1st Harpenden Scouts have been supporting the work of the St Albans & District Foodbank.

The Scouts learned all about the reasons why the Foodbank is needed and then designed leaflets asking residents of streets nearby the Scout Hut on Granary Lane if they would be able to donate items for a doorstep collection.

Both the Wednesday and Thursday troops spent one of their meetings collecting donated items before sorting these into food types. In total, the generosity of local residents enabled Scouts to fill 40 pallets of donations which were collected by the Foodbank at the end of the week.
