Spanish midfielder Mikel Arteta’s scan results following the Gunners’ clash in Turkey are to be perused by Arsene Wenger this morning (Thursday).
At today’s pre-match press conference Arsenal’s boss confirmed that he was unsure when Mikel would return to the pitch.
But it appears that Mikel is likely to miss this Saturday’s Barclays Premier League clash against Everton.
He said: “Mikel had a scan yesterday afternoon, and I haven’t got the results, but I have a meeting at 10am to check on developments.”
Despite apparently having narrowly being hit with a missile thrown at him after the Gunners’ match with Besiktas two days ago, Arsene was as unflappable as ever with members of the media.
Asked how he felt seeing Cesc Fabregas wearing a Chelsea shirt during his new team’s win over Burnley, Arsene admitted: “it was strange, but you have to accept players move from club to club.”
Responding to questions about the further movement of players, Arsene was non-committal, saying that “there are no offers from anybody for me” – in reference to rumours about Lukas Podoloski.

He added that he “has the players we want, but we are open to any opportunity”.
There was praise for Calum Chambers - quoted saying his first Champions League game was “a great experience”, with Arsene saying: “he has done extremely well.
“But you have to be patient. He has only played three games. It is important for the players, psychologically, if it doesn’t go too fast.”
Arsene said this weekend’s game against Everton would be a “good test” for his players.
After their draw in Istanbul, according to the team’s website, Arsenal remain “favourites to progress to the group stages next week.”
German trio Per Mertesacker, Mesut Ozil and fan’s favourite Lukas Podolski may possibly be involved on Saturday, but look more likely to being back for the second leg of their Champions League play-off at the Emirates on August 27.
