A REAL scrum greeted Saracens rugby players when they invited young Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) patients, siblings and friends to a training day in St Albans last week.
The 20 children were getting the help of the sporting stars in preparation for the RBC Race for the Kids 5k family fun run on June 24.
To kick off the day, the GOSH party got an exclusive tour of the ground at Woollams in Harpenden Road and watched their rugby heroes train with their coaches.
Later they were invited on to the pitch for a series of fun training sessions.
Many of the participants will be taking part in the RBC Race in London’s Battersea Park and urged everyone to sign up at www.raceforthekids.co.uk Money raised will fund the essential redevelopment of GOSH.
Saracens and England fly half and centre player Owen Farrell said: “The patients who went along to the training session were all winners and we were bowled over by their enthusiasm to get stuck in and have lots of fun.”
