SANTA had time to spread Christmas cheer among rail passengers at St Albans station recently, ahead of his annual long journey around the world.

The bearded one visited the city last Friday, December 21, accompanied by his elves and helpers to give out free gifts to children.

Youngsters also enjoyed entertainment from a balloon artist, magician and face painters.

Santa’s appearance coincided with First Capital Connect’s partnership with the Rotary Club of St Albans Verulamium, with members also visiting the station to collect donations for local charities.

FCC customer service director Keith Jipps said young passengers were “thrilled and surprised” to see Santa so close to Christmas.
