Hundreds gathered for the fifth year in a row to join in the festival fun at a local school, which organises an annual event in memory of a former pupil.
Rob’s Festival, which brings music and sport together for the day, drew crowds of 750 people to Beaumont School in St Albans last Saturday.
The festival first began in 2010 and is organised in memory of Rob Williams, a former Beaumont pupil who was killed while on a skiing holiday in 2009.
This year marked the fifth festival and raised an impressive £5,000 for charity.
Sales and marketing manager of the festival, Lorna Colwill, said: “The legacy of Rob’s Festival is a true credit to the school and the pupils who make it.”
The rain showers didn’t dampen spirits, with spectators enjoying an afternoon of football tournaments and continuing the fun dancing the evening away to local bands.
Sumo wrestling, a bouncy castle, face painting and tie-dyeing added to the entertainment of the day, whichran from midday to 8pm.
Local businesses also got involved, with the Pudding Shop’s ‘pudmobile’, Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shoppe, and Sushi4u all hosting stalls.
Proceeds from the event go to The Prince’s Trust and more than £45,000 has been raised for the charity in the past five years.
