Diversions will be put in place to allow for five days of maintenance work to be carried out on a St Albans street, starting from tomorrow (Monday).

The £31,000 highways scheme affects the B691, Victoria Street, between 9.30am and 3.30pm from Monday, February 13 to Friday, February 17.

The work, carried out by Eurovia and Ringway on behalf of Herts county council, is expected to be completed over five days, weather permitting.

On Monday (13) and Tuesday (14), Ringway will undertake carriageway resurfacing from the junction of Marlborough Road/Upper Marlborough Road to the junction of Ridgmont Road, using a full road closure.

The diversion routes during this closure will be on Beaconsfield Road, Hatfield Road and Stanhope Road.

From Wednesday, February 15 to Friday February 17, Eurovia will be undertaking traffic loop installation works from the junction of Upper Lattimore Road/Lattimore Road to the junction of Beaconsfield Road.

The diversion routes during these closures will be via St Peter’s Street, Hatfield Road, Stanhope Road and Grimston Road.

Residents have been warned by the council that access to properties during the working hours may be disrupted.

And if you park in the maintenance area during the publicised dates and times, vehicles blocking the work may be removed.

Cllr Terry Douris, cabinet member for highways, said: “These works form part of the council’s ongoing commitment to maintain and improve our roads for the benefit of all road users in Hertfordshire.

“I realise that the road closure on this busy road is likely to cause disruption and inconvenience to motorists and would ask everyone for their co-operation while the work is in progress.”

Any changes to the proposed start date, duration or working hours will be announced on the information boards on-site and via: www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/roadworks
