A woman in her 40s has been taken to Watford Hospital with a neck injury after she was cut free from a car, following a collision in Radlett this morning (Friday).

A spokesman for St Albans Fire Station said that firefighters attending the collision, at about 9.15am, found the woman trapped by her injuries in a car, and had to use cutting equipment to remove the roof of the vehicle and free her.

The collision, between a red and grey Subaru estate and silver Mercedes estate, occurred on the B556 Harper Lane, Radlett.

After being closed to allow for recovery of the vehicles the road, between A5183 Watling Street and B5378 Shenleybury, was reopened at about 11.30am.

However a spokesman for Herts county council said there was traffic congestion in the area as a result of the closure.

A spokeswoman for the East of England Ambulance Service Trust (EEAST) said a woman was taken to Watford Hospital as she was suffering neck pain.
