THE resurfacing work currently underway at Batchwood Drive in St Albans is to be suspended from Sunday as the equipment is needed elsewhere.
The work, which has caused major traffic delays in the city and approaches, started on March 3 and was expected to be completed in three weeks, but it will now be suspended until March 31 leaving half of the project unfinished.
If all goes to plan, the stretch of carriageway between Green Lane and Redbourn Road will take about a week to complete once work recommences and this will coincide with the school holidays. Before the work started, Herts Highways had claimed that they couldn't delay the project until the school holidays which start on Thursday in order to minimise disruption.
The Waverley Road roundabout will be resurfaced on Sunday and then the road will be reopened for the Easter period while the highways team are diverted to Watford to carry out another project delayed by bad weather.
