MEMENTOS of a wartime wedding in London Colney have been discovered in a book by a woman living in West Wales. Jeannette Casey, who lives in Pembroke Dock, found an old cutting from the Herts Advertiser and a pressed flower in a copy of an old reference book which she bought. Mrs Casey said: "It is clear that the newspaper cutting and the pressed flower were originally treasured by someone or they would not have been kept there." The couple in the picture were Company Sergeant-Major E. Chamberlain, whose father lived in Napsbury Avenue, and Elizabeth Read from Hollybush Cottages, London Colney. Mrs Casey said: "There is no date on the cutting but by the look of the bride's hair and the way she was dressed I would think it was in the late 1940s "Now I would like to reunite the cutting and the pressed flower with any member of the couple's family who would like it." If anyone recognises the names and would like the cutting to be returned they should contact the Herts Advertiser on 01727 865165.
