Redbourn Post Office set to relocate
PUBLISHED: 08:00 03 June 2017
The Post Office in Redbourn is proposing a move to a new location and a significant extension of its opening hours.
After the resignation of the current postmaster, the Post Office is looking to relocate to Weymans Nisa Local convenience store at 27 High Street, Redbourn.
The premises of the current branch, at 73 High Street, are being withdrawn for Post Office use and will close at 1.30pm on Saturday, July 22. A new postmaster has been appointed and the Post Office will open at the convenience store at 1pm on Monday, July 24.
Post Office services will be provided from two, low-screened counters alongside the retail till. Opening hours will be 6am to 9pm Monday to Saturday and 6.30am to 9pm on Sundays, which is an extra 57 hours and 30 minutes a week.
The changes would also mean improved accessibility, as there are steps at the current branch but the new branch will have level access.
Post Office area manager Michael Brennan said: “We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents.
“We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs.”
Before the plans are finalised, the Post Office is looking for customers to give their feedback on the proposed move. A public consultation into the proposal will close on Friday, July 7.
