Redbourn Parish Council and Herts Police have sought to reassure residents after a teenage boy was stabbed in the early hours of the morning.

Four people have been arrested following a boy in his late teens being taken to hospital with stab wounds after police were called at 2.37am on Thursday, May 31.

Three were released on bail and one was released with no further action.

Redbourn Parish Council’s chair David Mitchell said: “Redbourn has a very low crime rate and this seems to be a one-off and people should not be alarmed.

“It is very unusual for that sort of crime to take place here, so we should not overreact to it, but it is very concerning.”

Following the attack, police officers patrolled the neighbourhood in order to reassure residents.

In addition, the attack is being investigated by specialist officers from Operation Spruce,

The senior officer for St Albans district, Ch Insp Stuart Cheek said: “It is very unusual for incidents of this nature to occur in Redbourn and I understand it will have caused concern among the local community.

“Three people have been arrested and bailed in connection with this incident and significant enquiries are on-going. All of those involved are believed to be known to each other.

“We are carrying out increased patrols of the area and anyone with concerns should feel free to contact their local neighbourhood officer.”

Anyone with information or footage has been asked to contact police on 101 and quote Op Spruce.
