FIREFIGHTERS had to free a young Redbourn man trapped in his car for 30 minutes after an early morning road crash.
The 21-year old was taken to Watford General Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.
The accident happened at 5.30am at the Ancient Briton junction in Harpenden Road, St Albans.
The injured man was driving his blue Honda Civic car from Batchwood Drive in the direction of Beech Road.
The driver of the other car - a hired grey Mercedes - was driving from Harpenden towards the city centre. He was unhurt.
Beech Road and Seymour Road were closed to traffic until 6.50am causing long traffic delays
It is believed the traffic lights at this junction had been out of action at the time of the accident. Herts Highways engineers are currently investigating the cause.
