A family film showing and cake sale has raised £130 for a St Albans charity set up to rebuild a typhoon-hit school in the Philippines.
STAPH – St Albans Philippine Charity – held the event at Redbourn Village Hall and the money will be shared with the Disasters Emergency Committee .
Former St Albans MP, Kerry Pollard, said: “This event was a great example of two communities – and all age groups – working together and I’m sure marks the start of a successful fundraising and awareness campaign for STAPH.”
STAPH is raising funds to rebuild St Joseph’s school in a remote area of the Philippines badly affected by typhoon Haiyan.
