Firefighters freed a man trapped in a car, following a two-vehicle collision in a village at the weekend.
At 11.21am yesterday (Sunday), fire crews from Redbourn and Markyate were called to a crash on the A5 in Markyate, at the junction with Luton Road.
A spokesman for Herts Fire Service said that cutting gear had to be used to extract a man trapped by his injuries in one of the vehicles. Three other people were also rescued, without injury.
A spokeswoman for Herts Police said that officers were called shortly after 11.15am to a collision between a Toyota Yaris and a Toyota Corolla.
She said the fire service was asked to help as one man was left trapped, and the ambulance service also attended.
The injured man was taken to Luton and Dunstable Hospital but his injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.
Both vehicles were recovered and the road was re-opened at 2.20pm.
