TEN motorbikes and two helmets were stolen after thieves broke into a St Albans company on Sunday evening.

Four young men are thought to be responsible for the theft from Trail World - an off-road tour company - in Brick Knoll Park at around 9.20pm.

One of the motorbikes stolen, a black and gold Sherco 5.1i, registration number LK08 JRV, and one of the helmets, a KLIM F4 are the only ones of their kind in the UK.

In addition four Honda bikes, three Yamahas, a Beta and an unregistered Sherco were stolen in the raid.

It is thought the thieves entered the building three times in the night and wheeled the bikes round to a van to make their getaway.

Pc Marc Capicotto from St Albans Police Station said: "We are treating this incident extremely seriously and I am appealing for the public's help in tracing the stolen bikes and those responsible.

"One of the motorbikes and helmets that were taken are extremely rare and I am sure someone knows something about this incident and I would urge them to come forward."

He is anxious to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time or saw anyone acting suspiciously.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Pc Capicotto on 0845 33 00 222 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
