A FOUR-wheel-drive vehicle went up in flames on local playing fields after it was thought to have been torched.
Firefighters were called to the scene in Toulmin Drive, St Albans, in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday) where they found a 2003 registration Range Rover engulfed in flames.
The fire was difficult to put out as the fuel tank had split and the contents were increasing the intensity of the flames.
Police are now investigating the incident but have not yet established if the vehicle had been stolen before being set alight.
