RAM-raiders reversed a stolen car into the front of a village estate agents in a burglary.

The incident happened at Shenley Estates in Andrew Close, Shenley, overnight last Thursday.

A maroon-coloured Fiat Punto, believed to have been stolen from Mount Drive in Park Street on the same night, was reversed into the front window of the estate agents damaging it and surrounding masonry.

They then drove the car forward into a lamp post, got out and went into the branch which they searched, including the back office, before leaving without the car.

Police have yet to confirm what was stolen in the raid but Det Sgt Mark Clawson said: "This is an isolated incident and rare for a village like Shenley."

He appealed for anyone who might have seen something around the time of the raid or the theft of the car to come forward as well as anyone who saw a silver vehicle making off from the scene afterwards.
