REGULARS at the Great Northern pub in London Road raised more than �300 during a quick bucket collection last month.

John McGowan of the McGowan Group, who owns the pub, presented Paul Parrish of Grove House with a cheque for �310.

John said: "Pubs are so much a part of the local community and I wanted to do something to help our local community and Grove House was the obvious choice.

"We all know someone who has been affected by cancer and Grove House does amazing work supporting people through what can be a very difficult time.

"The regulars here are a generous lot and we were thrilled to raise such a great amount so quickly.

"This is just the beginning; I hope to get involved with more fund raising events for Grove House in the future."
