THE inquiry into proposals for a massive rail freight depot on Green Belt land in Park Street has entered its fourth and final week.

Proceedings resumed this afternoon (Monday) with planning expert Richard Tilley continuing to give evidence in support of Helioslough's plans for the former Radlett Airfield.

Both campaign group STRiFE and the district council have completed the cross-examination of their witnesses and the closing submissions are expected to begin on Thursday morning.

The issue of Helioslough's application to the district council for costs will also be debated before the inquiry is wrapped up on Friday.

Planning inspector Andrew Mead is set to visit the site at the beginning of next week and the developers proposing an alternative scheme in Harlington, near Luton, have also requested that he visit their site.
