A SECURITY van was targeted by robbers this afternoon (Tuesday) as it stopped off at a St Albans city-centre bank.

Thieves intercepted a cash drop at Barclays Bank in St Peters Street at around 2pm and made off with an unknown quantity of money.

Nobody is thought to have been injured in the incident.

Police have cordoned off the area while investigations take place.
