RADLETT: Large numbers of visitors are expected when the Horticultural Society holds its annual autumn show in the village on Saturday.

Among a variety of classes will be flowers, vegetables, flower arranging, domestic classes and photography with donated items sold off for charity at the end of the show which is being held from 3pm to 5pm at Vision Hall in Watling Street.

The autumn show is always particularly popular with children who grow plants for it, create miniature gardens and models from plant material and take part in a photographic competition.

The horticultural society has recently made its awards in its annual Best Front Gardens competition. First prize went to Mr P Friede of Newberries Avenue, with his steep rockery garden followed by the colourful garden of Ms J. Marston and Mr R. Kirk of Shenley Hill in second place and Mrs Katecha in Fairfield Close in third place.

Best commercial front garden was won by Stuart Thorne in Aldenham Road with the best communal display prize going to the cottages in Back Lane, Letchmore Heath.
