A DARING teenager from Radlett has decided to shave her head for charity.

Mohini Mistry, 16, will bite the bullet in front of friends and family on June 21 in an effort to raise 1,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

St Albans Girls School pupil Mohini, or Mo as she is known to her friends, has asked her father Gadadhara to do the deed at her house and it will take a matter of seconds for all of Mo’s shoulder length hair to disappear.

Mo, who lives in Cragg Avenue, said that everyone supports her fundraising challenge: “My parents are well behind me and I have a close group of friends at school who are all spurring me on. It’s the first time I’ve ever raised money for anything so I hope it all goes to plan!”

Mo, who chose Macmillan Cancer Support partly because her school friend’s dad has cancer, said that she was not a very vain person: “For some people, hair is a big deal. But although I am pretty nervous to shave it all off, I don’t think it’s as important as a lot of people make out. It will be a new look, but I’m sure I’ll cope.”

Mo, who is currently studying for four AS Levels, has asked anyone who would like to support her hair-raising mission to make a donation directly to Macmillan via their website www.macmillan.org.uk
