Race for Life in St Albans: with galleries

THOUSANDS of women looked pretty in pink on Sunday when they ran, jogged or walked 5km around Verulamium Park in aid of Cancer Research.
Women of all ages sporting cowboy hats, brightly coloured tutus and even a wedding dress descended on St Albans to take part in this year’s Race for Life.
Many participants were themselves cancer survivors, while others came to pay tribute to lost loved ones or make a stand against the disease.
Julie Braithwaite, event manager for Race for Life in the east, said: “We can’t say thank you enough for the amazing support we received from the people of St Albans on Sunday, with over 3,000 participants, friends and spectators joining us at our Race for Life event.
“In such a beautiful setting, it was glorious to see the swathes of ladies travelling the course throughout the park and around the lake – in almost perfect weather conditions.”
She added: “From this one event alone we aim to raise £250,000, with every penny going towards Cancer Research.
“It is therefore really important that all of your sponsorship money is returned.
