A TRIBESMAN on a visit from the Amazonian rainforest stopped off at a secondary school in St Albans.
Pupils at Marlborough School were treated to an assembly with Juan, a native of the Amazon region who is currently visiting schools in the country to teach them about the importance of sustaining the rainforest.
Juan, who works for the Yachana Foundation, a charity which protects the Ecuadorian environment, spent a day at the school and led assemblies with all the year groups. As well as sharing stories about life in the rainforest, Juan also stressed the importance of tolerating different cultures.
Marsaili Scott, sustainability co-ordinator at the school, helped organise Juan's visit and said: "The children were fascinated by Juan and they were full of questions about his life in the Amazon rainforest. They really got the message about how important it is to sustain other people's homes.
