DEMONSTRATORS of all ages came together in the city centre to protest about government proposals for academy schools.
They spent over an hour leafleting and talking to passers-by about the proposed new status which offers schools the opportunity to come out of direct local authority control.
A number of schools in the district have registered an interest in becoming an academy school and a recent meeting at Sandringham was picketed by protestors.
