TWO Romanian burglars who stole from houses in Bricket Wood and other parts of the county have been jailed.
Stan Matei, aged 43, of Wembley, and Mihai Strelcuic, also known as Antonio Scilimatic, 33, of Birmingham, were sentenced to six years and five-and-a-half years respectively at St Albans Crown Court last week.
At an earlier hearing Matei had pleaded guilty to 45 burglaries, while Strelcuic admitted 16 burglaries. Both men committed offences in Herts, Bucks, Oxon, Northants, Beds, Essex, Surrey, Leicestershire and Greater London.
The houses they broke into included one in Watford Road, St Albans, on October 3 last year when cash, mobile phones and credit cards were stolen.
On August 29 last year a Sony TV and other electronic equipment was stolen from a house in The Uplands, Bricket Wood.
Both men were finally arrested and charged following forensic tests.
