The world’s most famous living scientist - former St Albans resident Stephen Hawking - features on Channel 4 tonight (Saturday).

Stephen Hawking: A Brief History of Mine screens at 7.15pm.

Co-produced by Channel 4 and written and narrated by Stephen himself, it is the only official biographical account of the scientist, chronicling his story, in his own words.

The film features interviews with Buzz Aldrin, Richard Branson, Jim Carrey and Benedict Cumberbatch, as well as family members and close friends.

Executive producer Ben Bowie said it is a “remarkable tale of triumph over adversary, of how a man succumbs to the most devastating and frightening illness”.

He described Stephen as an “inspiration to millions”.
