Another victim of the Private Ambulance Service has come forward after the Herts Advertiser’s shocking exposé on their services from St Albans city hospital.
The company left diabetic Eva de Marris, 69, from Worley Road, without food or drink for four hours.
Her husband, Don de Marris, said: “I think it’s a disgrace. We only live a couple of miles away.”
Eva was left waiting so long she succumbed to a hypo, caused by low blood sugar.
Don praised the hospital staff who went “haywire”, offering to buy food and drink for the couple.
He says the ambulance crew themselves are helpful, but it is the controllers who let him and his wife down.
Private Ambulance Service, based in Basildon, were also responsible for transporting 85-year-old William Hilton home from hospital.
He was left waiting for three hours for a private ambulance from St Albans city hospital.
Private Ambulance Service are yet to respond to repeated requests for comment.
