HARPENDEN: A pop-up bookshop run by a local charity will be open for one more week.

Harpenden Lions set up the former Bookstack shop on Bowers Parade, Harpenden last Friday for a period of two weeks and thanks to kind donations from local residents, they still have plenty of books, CDs, DVDs and vinyl records on sale at bargain prices.

The shop, which was offered to Harpenden Lions rent free at short notice to raise charity funds, is open from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday until Saturday July 31, and Harpenden Lions expects to raise at least a few thousand pounds from the proceeds.

Harpenden Lions Club spokesperson Steve Gledhill said: “We were all saddened to see our local Harpenden bookshop close but are delighted to be able to use the premises for our charity second-hand bookshop, and we thank the landlord for the opportunity.”
