A PASSIONATE La Roux fan from Redbourn who was left heart-broken after missing a gig is now over the moon following a miraculous change of events thanks to the Herts Advertiser.

Eighteen-year-old Sam Robinson, of Hemel Hempstead Road, claims to be singer Elly Jackson's biggest fan, and had spent four hours queuing for her latest gig last month at Scala in London, only to be turned away at the door for not having valid ID.

Hairdresser Sam, who met Elly at a gig in July and has her name tattooed on his right arm, said at the time that the ordeal left him "crushed and heartbroken" and his mother, fellow La Roux fan Nicola Robinson, said that she had never seen him so upset.

But after Sam's story appeared on the Herts Advertiser website, www.hertsad24.co.uk, La Roux's manager contacted Nicola to tell her Elly had read the story and wanted to ring Sam to say apologise for what had happened.

Nicola said she was shocked to receive the call: "When Elly's manager first contacted me, I thought I was in deep trouble.

"I assumed that he had seen the story on the website and wasn't happy about it, but luckily I was entirely wrong and he was only interested in helping Sam out! Thanks to the Herts Advertiser's story Sam's nightmare has turned into a dream."

Sam, who wants a tattoo of Elly's outline on his other arm, said he has never felt happier and added: "I was so shocked when mum told me that Elly had asked for my phone number - who'd have thought it would turn out like this! I keep my mobile by my side at all times now waiting for Elly's call and hopefully I'll meet her again at her November gig - both mum and I are on the guest list now!"

Sam is expecting to hear from his idol in the next few weeks, and has promised to contact the Herts Advertiser to let us know what she said.
