Polls open to elect Hertfordshire Police and Crime Commissioner

POLLING stations opened this morning (November 15) across Hertfordshire for the county to elect its first ever police and crime commissioner.

Four candidates are bidding for the £75,000 a year position, which will aim to cut crime and hold the police to account.

These are:

- Sherma Batson (Labour)

- David Lloyd (Conservative)

- Christopher Townsend (Lib Dem)

- Marion Mason (UKIP)

Polls are open between 7am and 10pm and voters will have the chance to select a first and second preference on the ballot paper.

Votes will be counted tomorrow (November 16) and it is expected the result will be announced by 2pm.
