A SPATE of thefts from cars in St Albans has prompted police to remind the public to remove valuables from their vehicles.

They include the theft of satellite navigation systems from a blue Toyota Yaris parked on the driveway of a property in Lattimore Road, a blue Seat Leon parked in London Road car park and a grey VW Sharan in Dellfield.

All the thefts took place over the weekend of March 27 and 28 and involved thieves smashing windows to get into the vehicles.

Det Sgt Jason Finnegan from the St Albans Local Crime Unit said: "There have been a number of vehicle break-ins recently and so we are urging the public not to be complacent and to remain security conscious."

He urged people to make sure valuables were not left on show, to wipe away sat nav suction pad marks on the windscreen and not to leave the device or anything else of value in the glove box.
