POLICE are trying to trace a doctor who stopped to assist a young girl who was having a diabetic attack in a churchyard in St Albans.

The woman doctor was with two other people who stopped to help the 18-year-old girl, who was with three youths, in the churchyard at St Peter's Church, St Peter's Street, St Albans, between 12pm and 2pm on Saturday, June 14.

An ambulance was called for the girl but she recovered from the hyperglycaemic attack and was not taken to hospital.

Detective Constable Simon Smith said: "The girl believes her mobile phone and a small quantity of cash may have been stolen while she was collapsed and we are appealing to anyone who may have been in the vicinity of the churchyard and who may have seen her, to come forward.

"The doctor was acting as a good Samaritan and we would like to speak to her or her group purely as witnesses.

"We also understand a wedding was happening in the church around this time so if there are any guests from this wedding who may have seen anything, we would also like to speak with you.

"If you can help, please call the non-emergency number on 0845 33 00 222. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
