The owners of £50,000 worth of gold and silver bullion, doubloons and coins – discovered stashed under a hedge in London Colney – are being sought by the police.
Police are today (Friday) again appealing to trace the rightful owners of the collection, found beneath the foliage at Reed Close in the village on Wednesday, February 11.
Detectives believe the haul may have been stolen in a burglary or robbery, and that it could have come from anywhere in the country.
The items were mostly found individually wrapped in cellophane, plastic or held in plastic containers.
Jewellers have valued the collection at approximately £50,000.
Detective Sergeant Karen Lewis, from the St Albans Local Unit, said: “Despite several enquiries we have so far been unable to trace the owners.”
Anyone who has any information about where the collection came from can contact DS Karen Lewis via the non-emergency number 101.
Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
