POLICE have confirmed this morning that Friday’s accident on the M25 was fatal.

The man in his 60s was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident between junctions 21a and 22, which happened at around 7am.

He was driving his Ford Transit van along the clockwise carriageway when it was in collision with a Peugeot and four HGVs, and the road was closed for more than six hours. No one else received serious injuries.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the accident and Pc Kevin Sloan, from the Road Crash Investigation Unit, said: “This is a sad incident where a man has lost his life. We are appealing for people who may have seen the collision or have any information in connection with it to come forward and contact us.”

He appealed for any witnesses to come forward and contact him via the non-emergency number 0845 33 00 222.
