POLICE are appealing for a Cheryl Cole look-alike to come forward after they believe she had items stolen from her handbag at a pub in St Albans.

The incident happened at around 1am on Saturday morning when a woman with dark hair, who has been described as a double of the pop star, was standing at the bar in O’Neills in Victoria Street.

It is thought the victim noticed a man rummage through her leopard print handbag and then checked the contents. The man was later seen leaving the premises with another man and spotted discarding a box of Benefit make-up, which was later recovered by police.

Two men, including a 34-year-old from London and a 21–year-old from Luton, were arrested in connection with the incident and have been bailed until September 21.

Detective Sergeant Carolyn Taylder, who is investigating the incident, said: “Although we have arrested and bailed two men in connection with this incident, we are very keen to trace this woman as we believe she may have vital information.

“Firstly we would like to stress that this woman is not in any trouble, we are wanting to speak with her as we believe she may be able to assist us.

“This lady is very attractive and on Friday night/Saturday morning she was wearing her hair down and was carrying what appeared to be a very distinctive leopard print handbag with a strap. This was the bag placed on the bar.

“She may also be missing a box of Benefit make–up.”

Anyone with information should contact DS Carolyn Taylder on 01727 796369 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 11.
