Police appeal following Harpenden burglary

A HOUSE in Harpenden was broken into recently but the burglars made off empty handed.

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following the incident at a property in The Warren on Thursday, May 26, between 3pm and 4.30pm. The culprit or culprits entered the house via the back garden and by breaking a patio door lock.

After unsuccessfully trying to gain access to a safe, they left the house empty-handed in the same way they broke in.

Pc Nina Garrard, investigating, said: “This is a quiet and friendly cul-de-sac, where everyone is very neighbourly and aware of what is going on.

“While we have done door-to-door, I think there may still be people who may have seen something on the road and we have not spoken to them yet.

“If that is you, no matter how insignificant it might seem, I would encourage you to come forward. Alternatively, if you have any information relating to this crime, please do contact me.”

Anyone with any information should ring Pc Garrard via the non-emergency number 0845 33 00 222. Alternatively, call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
