A CASH machine in Harpenden was fitted with a device as thieves attempted to steal money.

Police have issued CCTV images of two men they would like to speak to in connection with the incident which happened outside Barclays Bank on the High Street at around 2.30pm on Wednesday, March 30.

A short while after the suspects left the scene, a member of the public discovered a device on the ATM and reported it to the bank.

Pc Matthew Wright, investigating, said: “We are really keen to speak to the young men in the footage or for anyone who recognises them to get in touch. We would also ask if anyone knows anything about this incident to contact us.”

Anyone with information should call Pc Wright via the non-emergency number 0845 33 00 222 or, alternatively, call Crimestoppers (an independent charity) anonymously on 0800 555111.
