A MAN was assaulted after challenging a group of other men who made comments about his girlfriend.
Police are appealing for witnesses and information following the assault in Station Road, Harpenden, in the very early hours of Saturday, June 18.
The victim was sitting on a bench with his girlfriend at around midnight when the fight erupted and he was punched, leaving him with minor injuries.
Pc Ben Smith, investigating, said: “This was an unpleasant incident for the victim, although fortunately he was not seriously injured. I would like to appeal for anyone who saw a group of men acting suspiciously in the area, either before or after the incident. It may be that you witnessed the incident itself. If so, or if you can help at all, I would like to encourage you to come forward.”
