POLICE are appealing for information following an assault at around 10.15pm on Saturday in London Colney High Street .

An 18-year-old youth from the village was walking with two friends near Tesco when he was assaulted by a man passing by who was then joined by another man, and they then made off in a black VW Passat car.

The victim was treated in hospital but has since been released.

Both suspects were white and aged about 30. They were approximately 5ft 6in tall and of a medium build. One had a shaved head with light-coloured stubble and was wearing a light-coloured, long-sleeved top and dark-coloured tracksuit bottoms with paint splattered on them.

The second suspect had dark-brown hair, dark eyes, pale skin and was wearing a dark-blue, long-sleeved top with 'Lonsdale' written in white on the front.

Investigating officer Det Con Georgina Fenge said: "Although incidents of this nature are rare, this was still a distressing incident for the victim."

She urged any witnesses or those with information to come forward and contact her on 0845 33 00 222 or alternatively to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
