PERFORMANCE poet Chris Parkinson demonstrated his verbal skills outside St Albans Tourist and Information Centre (TIC) last week as he passed through his home city.
Chris, who was born in St Albans and performed with Albanian barber shop trio Can’t Snorkel before setting up the world’s first Poetry Brothel, was representing St Albans on the second leg of the Brighton Fringe Ice Cream Relay.
He had come from Bedford Station where he was handed a giant ice-cream cornet/torch by performer Hodgkin which he was bringing along the First Capital Connect (FCC) Bedford to Brighton line to mark the finish of the Thameslink Programme engineering work which will enable the train company to run an uninterrupted route across central London at weekends and overnight.
Outside the TIC he gave performances and dished out free ice cream.
The Brighton Fringe, where Chris is taking his show Fashion Tips For The Last Days, is the biggest arts festival in England and runs from Saturday until May 27. The relay was to kick off the event and publicise the uninterrupted FCC Thameslink service.
