It is one of the most photographed attractions of St Albans and now there is a competition to encourage younger generations to also appreciate its beauty.

St Albans’ medieval Clock Tower, 600 years old, is the focus of a competition instigated by university student Jinghui Foo.

Entrants are encouraged to take a photo that shows what the tower means to them, submit their photo using the contest application on the site’s Facebook page, and get their friends to also join or vote for them.

Jinghui said: “The purpose of having this contest is to reach out to more people using social media, [particularly] the younger generation as they are more active social media users.

“It is also creating a social media presence for the Clock Tower.”

The tower will open specially for the competition from 2pm to 3.30pm this Saturday, March 1, and the contest ends on March 10.
